The Art of the Bias Cut

Cutting on the bias is one of the most skilled and labour-intensive techniques in garment construction — and it is a signature of Julie Tengdahl’s design philosophy. When fabric is cut diagonally across the grain at a 45-degree angle, it gains an extraordinary quality: it stretches, moves, and drapes in a way that straight-cut fabric simply cannot.
